Things to Know in January and February, 2018 - English and Spanish

Notes from Principal Patty

Team K and Principal Patty would like to thank ARMS parent Nicole Blum for volunteering her sewing expertise to stitch together the baby quilt for Ms. Kate Burke, Team K's social studies teacher. For inspiration, the students studied the paintings of contemporary artist, Jim Dine to create these heart-themed quilt squares for the baby who is expected to arrive on Valentine's Day! Thanks so much, Nicole!

We are still missing a few field trip forms! This Friday, February 16th, all ARMS students and staff will be going to the movie theater to see the movie Wonder. This is an important ARMS community event that we look forward to experiencing together; it will launch our school-wide study of disability rights. In preparation of this trip, teachers are incorporating curriculum related to the movie (themes of “solidarity and empathy”) in all Advisory classes.

Yearbook Wants Your Jokes, Due March 2

Jokes Wanted

Our 7th grade yearbook club members wanted to try something new this year. They are asking for all 7th graders to enter their favorite jokes to be printed in the yearbook. The rules are simply that the jokes must be appropriate and preferably not too long in length. Jokes must be received by Friday, March 2nd. No jokes will be accepted after this date. Jokes can be emailed to grantl@arps.org or hard copies handed in at the main office or to Lindsay Grant.

Please Note: All of the jokes entered will be voted on by the yearbook club before being placed in the book, so not every one that is entered may be printed.

Racism and Climate Change Are About You, Feb. 8

AMHERST, MA - Join us on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Woodbury Room for the next event in this ongoing film and discussion series that may educate, touch your heart, and inspire you to action to help dismantle racism.
