Dear Parents/Guardians,
It’s 8th grade end of the year activity time. We are seeking 7th and 8th grade adult/older sibling volunteers and 8th grade donations for the 8th grade social happening on Friday June 20th from 7:30-10 PM at the High School and for the 8th grade Movin’ on Ceremony happening on June 25th. NOTE TO 8th GRADE PARENTS/GUARDIANS: We’ll take cash instead of your labor/other donations. Thanks!
The social is not a fancy dress event so does not require fancy dresses and tuxedos. In the past, students were advised not to wear shorts and to dress tastefully. We’ll let you know if there’s any further advice on dress.
The budget is mostly paid for through ticket sales. The DJ costs $200, the custodial fee is about $260, the supplies and decorations depending on what is used from last year about $150, etc. If you need a scholarship, you can check that off on the forthcoming permission form. No tickets will be reserved without a signed permission form. Tickets will be reserved and permission forms handed in to a parent volunteer at lunch the week of the social or after school the day of the social.
Basically this event is a dance. They’ll have an end-of-school picnic at Mill River with lots of activities.

TASKS/DONATIONS FOR SOCIAL
8th Grade Parents:
1. Decorating and Set up 4-6 PM
2. Cleaning up 10-11 PM
3. Selling $5 tickets at lunch +Friday after school at ARMS (students must present a signed permission slip) (scholarships will be available)
4. Non-perishable or long-lasting treats that can be left over for the movin’ on ceremony on the 25th, that do not require utensils, on disposable plates/containers.
(Most popular—brownies, cookies, chips. Nut-free.)
5. Drinks
6. Paper goods
7. Flowers or other table decorations
7th Grade Parents/older siblings/other volunteers:
Staffing social from 7-10 in 1 hour shifts
FROM EITHER GRADE: OPTIONAL: Two good photographers with 35 mm DSLR cameras who can bring good lighting and a backdrop--and get photos online quickly
