Despite the short well of only 3 school days, ARMS students were
involved in many activities of integrated learning with deep meaning. On
Monday Team Wolf walked to the Amherst Cinema, our local non profit
arts organization to see "Queen of Katwe". Also on Monday we had a
walk-a-thin to add to our UNICEF collection for Syrian Refugees.
Additionally on Monday the seventh grade class-meeting-assembly included
poetry recitation and dance performances.
On
Wednesday, the entire 7th grade walked to the UMass Fine Arts Center to
see the Shanghai Acrobats performance, which was inspiring and relevant
to social studies curriculum.
Thursday,
the 8th grade hosted a class-meeting-assembly from the Veteran's
Education Project. We were captivated by the stories of veterans and had
an opportunity to ask questions and give reflection.
The
week was punctuated for teachers by a full curriculum day on Tuesday
during which we met with our inquiry groups for several hours to conduct
research and plan action steps for school improvement!
